Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology. The company offered nothing, but I was able to get a full credit from my credit card company.
My travel partner was hustled for a timeshare presentation on her ride to Cabo from the airport. We were offered a boat load of benefits, including restaurant and travel credits and decided to attend the presentation.
The breakfast we attended was lovely, as was to be expected. To make a long story short, we were consistently told we could sign up for a timeshare for $575/week for a studio unit. When we sat down for the negotiations and paper signing, it was than we were advised that there was a $25,000 initiation fee.
I literally fell off my chair. We had spent 2 hours with the very cordial sales rep before this number was ever mentioned. When we flat out refused, the price came down to $15,000. We again refused.
Now our very cordial sales rep turned into a you know what. I asked him for his business card, he refused and stormed out of the room without even saying goodbye.
As we were packing up our belongings to leave, we discovered we were now being escorted to the 2nd tier sales presentation. That presentation had a considerably different offer. Since I was now the only potentially interested party, the presentation was made to me alone.
For $3,301 I could have 60 weeks of studio timeshare units (4 per year) over the next 15 years for $199 per week. I was also to be charged $599 for access to their Pueblo Bonito Gateway, for a total of $3,900. The stipulation was that units would not be reserved more than 90 days in advance. I signed up.
And then the issues in trying to book my timeshare weeks began.
Every time I tried to book a week through their timeshare reservation phone number, I was advised that through the phone number I could only book my bonus week at $399. I was told that the only way I could get my $199/week studio unit was through their Gateway website at pueblobonitotravelclub.com/. The Gateway website has a copyright date of 2021, which confirms it has been several years since it was updated. The site has a very poor user interface, is very slow and I am constantly landing on 404 - page not found pages.
95% of the search results are for non Pueblo Bonito properties and the rates are considerably higher than the $199 per week I signed up for. When looking specifically for my home resort of Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach for a unit (re any PB resort in Mexico), there was nothing available through the end of 2004 for less than $1,000 per week.
I reached out to my Gateway Program Administrator Fernando, who was my sales rep. In speaking with him, he advised me that the only way to book my $199 studio Pueblo Bonito unit was through the website. When I advised him that there were never any units available at that rate, he told me I had to check back daily as the properties are constantly releasing rooms.
What I have discovered in reviewing my contract is that I was sold a Pueblo Bonito Gateway Contract and Security Agreement.
For that I have access to the Pueblo Bonito travel website where I can book anything available around the globe at whatever prices are shown. What I have found are options available at primarily non Pueblo-Bonito resorts for prices ranging between $200 and $4,000 per week. My $199/week studio at a Pueblo Bonito resort is nowhere to be found. So, in short, I wasnt sold a timeshare contract, but a contract that allows me access to their discount travel website for 3 years.
If I want to continue to use the website to purchase discount travel per my contract, I have to pay another $599 every 3 years.
There is limited, if any availability for the studio unit.
This is a complete scam. Pueblo Bonito pulled a bait and switch on me and what I have is access to a discount travel website that contains absolutely none of the inventory I was sold.

Royally Screwed by Pueblo Bonito Ownership Scam
My husband and I went on a much needed vacation to Pueblo Bonito Los Cabos. They hold your luggage when you arrive until you speak with the Timeshare representatives.
We wanted to visit the sister resort Sunset so we thought what's the big deal, we'll listen to the 90 minute presentation there and get some free excursions. The plan was to not fall for a scam. Tino, our sales rep, was assigned to us and extremely good at what he does. However, he's a liar and the entire program is a lie.
We were told if we purchase 50 points that it is good for a seven night stay for $560.00 and if we want to add the meal plan it's $50 per day per person. I have all of the notes that he wrote out of all of the different scenarios. He also threw in a $99 certificate for a seven night stay that could be used at the resort or "anywhere else comparable in their "Travel Club" in the world to their Junior Suite". We paid $1000 down.
Money we couldn't really afford but with everything he showed us we wished we could purchase 1000 points. We were told we could get 12 weeks and Airbnb the weeks we didn't use and get an LLC to write it all off. Wow. What a deal.
He gave me his cellphone and said anytime we need anything give him a call. We left feeling great about our decision. Until we tried to book using anything, the certificate, our owner points. All a scam.
The hotels on the $99 certificate were basically Motel 6. Then when I tried to book a trip at the end of December the reservations department told me they were sold out. However, the website shows plenty of availability. But that availability is set aside for new victims.
"Owners" can't go by that availability. After speaking with Customer service and being given numbers back and forth and not getting anywhere I decided to see about booking a trip at a later date and see if I had any better luck. They have nothing available for "Owners" for the entire first quarter of 2024. Ok, how about May.
Great, they have availability. It will be the $560 plus for the regular meal package it will be $117 per night per person. What happened to the $50 per day. He said that must be with the $99 certificate.
After 2 hours of trying to book a room that I've paid for, I asked to cancel my contract and get a refund. They said I would have to pay out my 47 year contract but they'll give me a discount and I can PAY $3000 to get out of it. I asked to speak to my original sales rep and was told they don't speak to people. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told by two different departments that their supervisor was on vacation.
I asked to speak to the sales department at Sunset and they don't answer. Meanwhile, I get messages EVERY SINGLE DAY from the Travel Club wanting to sign me up. They have an abundance of help when they are signing you up but they disappear as soon as you try to use your time. I have respectful in all of my dealing with them.
I have held up my end of the bargain. I paid my down payment, I pay my monthly payments and now when I want to utilize what I've signed up for they not only make it extremely difficult, they scam you again.
I googled complaints and see that they've had a class action lawsuit against them. I am looking into how to recover my funds and get out of this bogus contract but in the meantime until I can find someone who can truly assist me - I am going to do my best to let everyone else know to beware of this scam.

Verified ReviewerNot Exactly
I must say I am astonished by the number of 4- and 5-star reviews you can find on this property. It makes me think that some people are living in an alternative universe where Taco Bell has a Michelin star and Motel 6 competes with the Ritz.
If you are committed to staying here, the best way to avoid disappointment would be to set your expectations by reading through the 1- and 2-star reviews. I wont relitigate all of the shortcomings identified in those reviews now, but in retrospect I saw many comments there that are now totally relatable. One thing that I will reinforce is the shameless bait and switch program to attend their timeshare. Upon check-in you will be directed to desk to receive your 'activities packet'.
There, you will hear that in exchange for listening to a 90-minute presentation you will receive a $400 Spa credit. What they dont mention that the 90 minutes does not include shuttle time to and from resort (60 minutes), breakfast (a plate of fruit), a tour and several hours of a high-pressure sales ordeal with no escape possible. They (Martha/Gina) will tell you can be back to Rose by 11am, but the reality is that when you get to the sister resort at ~9:30am if you are unable/unwilling to clear your calendar for the afternoon, you will be on the next shuttle back to Rose empty handed. No matter how explicitly you press them at the onset for the actual time commitment, you will lose a day of your vacation and face a stream of denials in the aftermath.
Very disappointing and beneath, what I am guessing that back in the 80s, was a pretty cool resort.
I should say that after you leave the lobby area, everyone does their best to make your stay enjoyable. Unfortunately, their best isnt enough to overcome the shortcomings of the property.

Lies upon lies
This is a warning not to get sucked intoSta Pueblo Bonito travel club. We visited Pueblo Bonito last March and made the mistake of buying into the travel club.
Almost everything that we were told we would get from the club was either a lie by omission or an outright lie. We purchased a package that contained "world weeks" that supposedly can be use at resorts around the world. As it turns out these weeks can only be cashed in for points that are worthless. The all-inclusive fees for members are so high that we could actually book a room for less NOT USING our ownership weeks.
We took advantage of a promotion that was supposed to give us a credit for paying off our balance early and 60% off all-inclusive fees. We were led to believe that we could use both, but as it turns out the 60% discount is off rack rates which are outrageous.
Don't make the same mistake that we did in purchasing ownership in the travel club. We should have known that an offer that sounds too good to be true is too good to be true.

Scamming me out of Six Thousand Dollars
I attempted to book at this hotel for my wife and I to go on our 5th anniversary trip. The online booking tool reset while I was booking and gave me different dates than what I initially chose.
I can understand computer issues so I went into the online portal and tried to change my dates. I was told that it would be an additional three thousand dollars for the dates I selected. That isn't part of the budget so I contacted the resort the next morning.
I was told they have a no cancellations policy. Even though it was less than 24 hours from when I originally booked.
I spoke to supervisors who would not return my calls or respond to my emails. They flat out refused to refund my money even though I would not be staying there. I told them I was not going to be staying there and that I was going to dispute through my credit card.
Fast forward to today when I get an additional three thousand dollar charge on top of the original charge. Without my consent or authorization they charged me and refuse to refund me any of my money or work with me at all other than telling me to just stay a different day.
My wife is in the Navy and this is the only time we have to take this trip.
We also do not have the extra money as the money from this trip came from a little cash my dad left me when he died in February. So they really have taken advantage of me. They refuse to refund my money or work with me at all. They refuse to respond to my calls.
This is a typical foreign company scam. Do not book here. Do not stay here.
There are plenty of other great resorts in cabo. If this is how they treat potential customers imagine how they will treat you onsite with hidden fees and crooked business dealings.

Verified ReviewerThey canceled my reservations at the last minute
They canceled my reservation a couple weeks before we were scheduled to arrive without notice. We booked several months ahead and had confirmation that the hotel would colllect the remainder of the money at check in.
We booked through Hopper and they notified us that Monte Cristo canceled our reservations. The managers refused to help and told me to rebook directly through them. The prices had more than doubled and they would not give me back my reservation. I had to rebook at Sunset Beach for twice the cost and are getting basic rooms now.
I had to book because I had other guests staying that we were traveling with.
I have been coming for the last 5 years and this is how they treat us. I will never recommend this resort again.

Verified Reviewer |REFUND ISSUE (Refuse to pay my refund without cause)
do I have been a regular visitor to Pueblo Bonito Sunset, Cabo San Lucas since 2006. I usually visit 3 times a year.
PBS (pueblo bonito sunset) has been my favorite go to resort in Baja, CA.
Eight months ago, I purchased the all-inclusive meal plan for $617.00. I canceled the meal plan because of Covid. PBS cancellation policy is you must cancel before check-in, once checked-in, you cannot cancel. I canceled 20 days before check-in and was told by PBS customer service representative Rodrigo Verduzco that it would take 2-4 weeks to receive my refund.
I also purchased a $50.00 airport to the resort ride.
Here are both refund ID number: REFTS2022-00****73 and
REFTS2022-00****74.
The all-inclusive department at PBS are using deceptive sales practices schemes with no intention of refunding monies due the client. I am going 9 months in trying to retrieve monies owed to me.They presently do not respond to my emails and are hoping I give up. People responsible for bad behavior are 1. JAIME FONSECA BELTRAN, 2) CLAUDIA CASTELLON.
3) ITALIA FLORES.
They requested personal information and many other requests that nothing to do with my refund just to delay paying my refund. PBS must be accountable for their bad behavior Thank You

Worst reservations people ever!
I have had several Pueblo Bonito Timeshares for a very long time and every year I have problems with agents in the reservations office when I rent my units to people. They either don't respond or they pretend to not understand my request.
So far this season I have asked this guy three times for a letter of confirmation with MY unit number on it and the guy keeps ignoring me and has sent a blank confirmation( like I have never seen before) and it has no unit number on it.
After paying a fortune for this timeshare years ago, I think the least they could do is give me the unit I purchased and better still, RESPOND. Dealing with these people is an absolute nightmare.

NEVER BUY A TIMESHARE. SHOCKINGLY BAD BOOKING SERVICE & VERY UNPROFESSIONAL PHONE SUPPORT
The day after confirming our booking, I called back the 800 reservation line to make a correction. I was told to email the booking agent.
20 days later, no one has returned any of my requests for help: 9 emails begging for the agent to call me 2 messages left with colleagues 2 messages left for a supervisor to call me Sunset Beach front desk rep Janet gave me the wrong email address for the hotel manager.
When I called back to clarify the email address, I was hung-up on twice, then every attempt to speak to a live agent ended with my call being disconnected.
If using voice over the internet, it is possible to block a callers number, though this is not the way to treat customers who need help.
As a firm believer you can attract more bees with honey, and not once being rude or raising my voice, their behaviour can only be explained as an effort to avoid accountability. Shockingly unprofessional.
Now 20 days later, with any option quickly vanishing or becoming cost prohibitive, no one has called us back.
We are owners and will be selling our unit.
We highly discourage buying a Pueblo Bonito timeshare.
Once they have your money, they are unwilling to make any effort to fix mistakes on their end.
